Omachi Plant: History
March 1933:
Established as "Showa Aluminum Kogyosho"
January 1934:
Succeeded in the industrial production of domestically-made aluminum for the first time in Japan
April 1938:
Production of Graphite electrode began
June 1939:
Changed name to "Showa Denko Omachi Plant"
December 1939:
Completion of Hirotsu Power Station
October 1941:
Completion of Tokiwa Power Station
September 1951:
Received the Deming Prize (company-wide recognition)
December 1953:
Obtained the first ever JIS certification in Japan with graphite electrodes
April 1954:
Completion of Aoki Power Station
March 1961:
Visit by Crown Prince Akihito (the current Emperor of Japan)

Completion of Diesel Power Station
